         Note:  Queens County voted to incorporate as a Borough of greater New York City 
                    in 1899; at which time, its 3 eastern towns (Hempstead, North Hempstead, 
                    and Oyster Bay) voted to separate from Queens, and following a political 
                    drama, the latter formed Nassau County, in 1900.
